ABOUT VERMONT DISTILLERS

Ed Metcalfe, owner of Vermont Distillers

We are a family owned and operated craft distillery located next to the Hogback Mountain Scenic Overlook in Marlboro, VT.  Although best known for our Metcalfe’s line of liqueurs, we also make Catamount Vodka, as well as flavored Bourbons & limited edition apple-based spirits.

Proprietor Edward Metcalfe has a history in the beverage industry dating back to 1985 as founder of the North River Winery in Jacksonville, License # BW-VT-1.  Although others had come and gone before, North River Winery was the only winery in the state at the time it was founded and became best know for their hard cider and fruit wines.

Ed sold the business in 1997 to focus on other aspects of life.  However, the love of making hooch never dies and sure enough, he was back at it before long (11 years to be exact), this time with the help of his two sons.  Augustus and Dominic Metcalfe work alongside their father on many aspects of the business, ranging from production to sales and marketing.

Visit us and sample our products at one of our tasting rooms or come see us at the source for a glimpse into life at the distillery.

Ed Metcalfe

As proprietor and president of the distillery, Ed wears many different hats.  From planning to production to accounting and even showing up to pour samples at local events, if it's related to the distillery, chances are Ed is involved.

Dominic Metcalfe

Dominic manages our Burlington tasting room and handles marketing, promotions and events in Northern Vermont.  You can find him at most distillery events taking place in the Northern end of the state.

Augustus Metcalfe

Gus works in Marlboro at the distillery running the still and taking care of all matters related to production.  He helps gather and source materials and works with the product all the way through the process, including hand bottling and labeling.
